The subtle purification of living space through sound has been known to all cultures. In Vastu it has a special significance, as the whole Indian Vedic culture is based on the science of sound vibration. Many parts of the Vedic scriptures describe the effect of certain sounds, harmonies, (ragas) and mantras on Man and his surroundings.

The harmonies (ragas) and mantras chosen for this CD have a strongly harmonising effect on space. This is because space is the subtle form of sound, and the quality of the room is strongly determined by sound vibration.

Yantra presents a perfect synthesis of traditional raga harmonies, ancient Vastu-mantras and modern ethno-music. Filled with feeling, the rhythms (talas), melodies (ragas), and songs (mantras) are inter-twined with traditional instruments and original sounds of nature: tabla, tampura, bamboo flute, karatalas, monsoon rain, wind, yajna fire and the calls of peacocks invoke the mystic scenery of the Far East.

The six songs on this CD are interwoven, following an agnihotra yajna, a fire ceremony many thousands of years old. Mantras, grains and ghee (butterfat) are offered to the fire, which represents the Supreme. In former times, when India belonged to one of the richest and most elevated cultures of the world, such ceremonies were performed without interruption, for the purpose of good fortune, and the health and well-being of the people.
